Hello and welcome.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with an MSW (Master’s of Social Work) from NYU and hold a certificate from New York State as a CASAC-T (Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor). My speciality is in dual diagnosis — substance abuse and mental health.
Before practicing on my own I worked as a front-line social worker in the Bronx serving families of women with HIV/AIDS, serious mental illness and active drug and alcohol addiction. I also worked at a residential drug rehabilitation center with men and women with severe addiction to drugs and alcohol, most of them mandated to treatment from the criminal justice system.
Besides my private practice, I also work as a psychotherapist at a community mental health clinic where I see adults, families and children with psychiatric and addiction issues in individual and group therapy. Most of my clients receive psychiatric (psychotropic medication) treatment, and I collaborate with staff psychiatrists and outside agencies and courts.
I offer a brief phone consultation free-of-charge, so we can chat and get a feel for how we might fit before meeting in person.
Here is a brief list of common issues I encounter in my practice.
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Job dissatisfaction and job-related stress and anxiety
- How to find and maintain healthy romantic relationships
- Aftermaths of painful breakups and divorce
- Inability to cut back or stop alcohol and recreational drug use
- Procrastination and lack of motivation
- History of childhood trauma
- Balancing creative ambitions with reality of making a living
