My Approach to Therapy

Depression, anxiety, out-of-control drug and alcohol use, recent loss, dissatisfaction with work, and unhappy, dissatisfying relationships are the most common reasons people seek therapy.

Whatever the source of emotional pain and mental anguish, you've made the first step in helping yourself. And for that alone, you need to acknowledge your courage and self-awareness to know that you need help.

In addition to my clinical training and professional experience, the most important thing I offer is empathy. People respond to authenticity and empathy, and this is where the "change work" begins. I will actively listen without judgment to help you better understand the origin of your issues and how they are negatively affecting your life in the present and limiting your options for the future.

If you find my approach to therapy compelling and a part of you connects with it,
I encourage you to visit other parts of my site (my blog is a good place to start).

Drop me a line and we will begin the conversation to see whether it might be a suitable fit.

My primary goal is to to help you

• Lift your mood, reduce symptoms of depression
• Reduce symptoms of anxiety and identify its triggers
• Improve your relationships to friends, family and significant other

• Learn how to better navigate the dating scene
• Reach a deeper understanding of yourself and improve your self-esteem
• Define and reach your professional/work goals
• Strategize for healthier, less harmful ways to cope with stress
• Explore your concerns about substance abuse using the harm reduction model
